Putting a meal on the table is not always an easy task. I am a busy working mother of 4. If I don''''''''t know what I am making for dinner by noon, the chances of my family having a home cooked meal are slim. I recently went to a meal planning class, and the woman teaching it told us that she plans out meals for her family for a whole month. She said that meal planning not only saves her money , but reduces the stress of deciding what her family is eating for dinner day after day.

In the Mom It Forward Organize eBook , we have included a Meal Plan Printable. This printable helps you create a weekly meal plan and a shopping list to go with it. Make meal planning a part of your week and before you know it, you will not only be saving money, but putting a great meal on the table for your family. Here are some benefits of meal planning.

One way to make meal time easier is to have a supply of cooked, shredded chicken frozen in meal size portions. HERE is the recipe I use (or if I’m planning on making chicken stock I use THIS one). Once you have your chicken ready to go, you can use this list of my 40 favorite recipes to make dinner a snap. Here goes:

Do you struggle with getting dinner on the table for your family? Do you need to save money on your grocery bill? Do you want to save time in the kitchen and spend more time with your family? Weekly meal planning is your solution!

I am here to tell you that your family does not want a gourmet meal, they simple want dinner around the table as a family. Mom’s make dinnertime so much more complicated than it needs to be. This eBook simplifies everything!

i love menu and meal planning. it makes shopping so much easier, and having it written out on the fridge so everyone knows what we’re eating every night is so much better than hearing “ what are we having for dinner? ” over and over again. it also helps me to know what kind/how much meat to pull out of the freezer to defrost in the fridge the night before.

since i happen to love sharing as much as i do meal planning, here’s a free printable meal planning template for you all. (click the link below the graphic.)

If I told you my morning meal, noon-time meal, evening meal, my actions for the entire day, there would not be enough time.

A meal for real I am a fan

The crock pot is your friend, sugar! So are casseroles. The best toddler friendly thing I can think of is this, at least my 10 month old consistently scarfs it: Easy Lasagne 1 can spaghetti sauce, I use meat or garlicky Wal-Mart brand whole wheat spaghetti noodles (UNCOOKED!!!) 16z container whole milk ricotta 1/2 c parmesan, divided (or less, depends how well your kid likes strong tastes) 2 cups mozarella, shredded or feathered, divided 1/3 c dried parsley (1/4 cup fresh but I find it too much work) 10z frozen spinach or chopped broccoli, thaw it out in the fridge Don t neglect to use the pan spray on your dish, though, or you ll regret it. If you want to freeze this ahead, it freezes beautifully, and you could just put it in an aluminium pan. This recipe makes a big 13 x 9 pan, but I have also put it in 4 square pans so we reheat just one meal s worth. You can also do this in a big slow cooker on low. Mix the cheeses (reserving 1/2 the parmesan and mozarella for the very top!) and the parsley together. Layer sauce (about 1/4 - 1/3 cup or a ladle) on the bottom, then noodles, cheese, veggie, noodles, sauce, cheese, veggie, noodles sauce cheese, etc. Now either bake covered with foil @ 350 degrees F for about an hour or put it in your slow cooker with the lid on for about 3 1/2 hours (mine it does great on low, you might have to play with yours). You re looking for melty, bubbly cheese and less liquid. Once it s cooked, you can either eat it then, or it (as my favourite film says) FREEZES BEAUTIFULLY. Then you can microwave it or pop it back in the oven to warm it up. Mac & cheese stir-ins are good, take your basic mac & cheese, cook it and stir in a small cooked chunky protein (tuna, hot dogs, kielbasa, tofu, chunk chicken, whatever) and a veggie or two (peas, broccoli, carrots, tomatoes, etcetera) then microwave for maybe 2 or 3 minutes to heat everything through. So easy a husband can do it. :) For that gourmet look that kids love, you can throw some goldfish crackers across the top for some crunch. Beans or rice & beans freeze well, so do meatloaf and mashed potatoes. Lay in a bunch of frozen or canned veggies. Make the meatloaf bigger than usual, cut off a chunk before everyone digs in, throw it in the fridge. You can chop it up a bit, throw it in with potatoes, carrots, and tomatoes from a can or frozen stew veggies and some water and a beef bullion cube and slow cook a stew the next day. Or, you can slice it and throw it on bread with a bagged salad, voila, meatloaf sandwich. There are a lot of good prepackaged frozen foods out there, surprisingly. Biggest thing you ll need to look at is the fat content and the sodium content with the toddler. Ie, "the skinless pre-cooked chicken breasts are better choice than the chicken nugget" kind of thing. But these do tend to get pricey pretty quick, so you ve kind of got to balance it out. Bagged salads, go for the ones in the back because the way they stock those are usually the newest, they ll keep unopened for a bit. Ravioli or tortellini is always popular with the toddler set, too, that and some bagged salad can be on the table fairly quick. Trick for cooking pasta with less effort, though it can get soggier so I suggest it just for convenience, is to get the water to a rolling boil, throw the pasta in, then turn off the water, put on the lid, and walk off or cook the rest or whatever for about 10 minutes. Anyway, hope this helps, congratulations and good luck!

Cook a big batch of pasta, one day have it for lunch with tomato sauce, the next add cheese sauce or tuna mayonaise? Homemade burgers are good, or home made pizzas? Good luck! x
