Oh, there are lots of things you can do! One really good thing is to reduce your consumption. Try to really evaluate your purchases to see if it is something you truly need, and try to get 2nd hand/used whenever possible (particularly easy with CDs, videos, and clothes) because that both helps keep items out of the waste stream and it reduces the need to source virgin materials to create a new item. Try not to use disposable items if at all possible. That means use real plates, real glasses, real silverware, cloth bags for shopping, etc. It also helps to buy food in bulk as it really cuts down on packaging, and you can repackage at home in reusable containers if you need a single serving, or something to-go.
